Bitcoin heating is referred to by those in the industry as “hashrate heating”, because bitcoin miners perform “hash” operations. When the mining computers perform this mathematical function it creates heat and can earn bitcoin rewards.
Those leading the innovation front in hashrate heating refer to themselves as “Heatpunks” – a play on the term “Cypherpunk” that freedom focused software developers self applied in the early 1990’s.
